Textron Aviation has opened a larger service facility at Essendon Fields Airport in Melbourne to expand maintenance and support services for Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker aircraft operators throughout Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific market. The company said the new site significantly increases its operational footprint in Melbourne and is intended to improve factory-direct technical assistance, parts availability, and overall service efficiency for more than 1,400 aircraft operating in the region. The facility includes expanded maintenance areas, an on-site parts warehouse, and upgraded customer amenities designed to reduce aircraft downtime and improve the ownership experience.

The investment is part of Textron Aviation’s broader strategy to strengthen its regional support network, including previous upgrades in Perth and other Australian operations. Company executives described the Melbourne expansion as a response to customer demand for faster access to specialized expertise and enhanced service capabilities. Essendon Fields Airport leadership also emphasized that the project supports the airport’s long-term development plans, strengthens business aviation infrastructure, and helps sustain skilled aviation jobs in the area. Textron Aviation plans to formally celebrate the opening with an official event scheduled for August.

Business aviation is a major source of U.S. job creation, supporting 1.3 million jobs and $340 billion in annual economic activity. In Florida, the sector employs an estimated 121,000 professionals, with an annual economic input of $27 billion each year and a contribution of $14 billion toward U.S. GDP.
